Wake up to an unobstructed view of the Pacific. We're on the 7th floor (8 levels above the pool), 80 feet from the ocean. There are no rooftops or other buildings in front of you, just open water and Caleta Abarca beach. At night you can hear the waves. It feels like being on a cruise ship.
We bought this apartment in 2009 for our own family and equipped it like a home, not a typical rental. It's fully remodeled and sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms (6 beds) and 2 bathrooms. You only need to bring clothes and groceries.
THE APARTMENT
- Master bedroom: king bed, ocean view, smart TV

- Bedroom 3: two bunk beds and a second desk with a laser printer
- 2 remodeled bathrooms
- Living room with fine leather couches. Native solid wood dining table for 6, plus 6 more chairs on the enclosed glass balcony facing the ocean. Paintings by local artists.
- Faces northeast: warm in winter, cool in summer. Each room has its own electric heater and thermostat. Windows are double glazed. No air conditioning.
KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY
- Fully equipped kitchen: Samsung refrigerator with bottom freezer, electric oven and stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, kettle, blender, 4-slice toaster
- Dishes for 24, quality stainless steel and enameled cast iron pots and pans
- Reverse osmosis drinking water system under the kitchen sink
- Washer and dryer in the apartment

THE BUILDING
Summer pool with a children's pool, lawn and garden, gym, sauna (book it with the concierge) and a large community room with patio. The building has a concierge and 4 elevators. The apartment comes with one assigned stall in the secured underground garage, with remote entry.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Recreo is a safe, hilly residential neighborhood. It's not crowded like downtown Viña by Marina Arauco mall, where traffic can be terrible. Bakeries, coffee shops, pharmacies, small groceries, pizza places and fish and produce stands are close by.
- Caleta Abarca beach: 5-10 minute walk. It's a real swimming beach; look for the green flag before you go in.
- Flower Clock: about 9 minutes on foot. Wulff Castle: about 15 minutes.
- Avenida Valparaíso (shopping, cafés, plazas) and Quinta Vergara park: about 15 minutes on foot.
- Recreo Metro station is about 6 minutes on foot and Miramar station about 15. The train runs from Valparaíso (Estación Puerto) to Limache.
- Colectivos (shared taxis) and ride-hailing apps are cheap. Street parking is scarce and expensive, so come ready to walk and use a car for trips outside town.
- A seaside bike path runs from Valparaíso to Viña and Reñaca.
- Farellones, La Parva, Valle Nevado and El Colorado ski resorts are close enough for a day trip. Portillo is farther.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Minimum age to book: 30. No smoking, no pets, no parties or events.
- No shoes inside, please. There's a shoe cubby at the entrance.
- A smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm are installed.
- This is a city neighborhood, close to everything. If you're looking for complete seclusion, this is not the place.
