Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Sebastian is a very nice and friendly host. He contacted me over WhatsApp to confirm the pickup time (even though I included it in my reservation), so it was helpful to have cell service when I landed. He had very good recommendations for meals and activities. The location of this Airbnb has pros and cons. Pros are that it is secluded, has a beautiful view of the sunsets because it is perched up on a hillside, and has plenty of space around so it does not feel crowded. The interior is modern and well designed. There is plenty of space to spread out. The internet speed measured over 80Mbps which is surprisingly fast for such a remote island, thanks to Starlink. Sebastian's outside dog, Makoi is very sweet and friendly and it was great to have him greet us every time we returned from our outings. Renting Sebastian's pickup truck was very easy and convenient.

Negative: The hot water was inconsistent. We took 3 showers where it worked perfectly fine, and 6 showers where hot water randomly stopped. The cleanliness was hit or miss - the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, but the kitchen was quite messy and dirty. There was a partial fish skin stuck to the side of the sink, and the faucet and backsplash had oil/water stains. There was grease stains on the oven handle, dried food remains in the fridge and microwave. Even after we informed him about this on the very first day, the cleaners again took good care of the bed/bathrooms but the kitchen got a very cursory wipe-down. There is no trash can in the kitchen/living room area. Only a large one outside on the back patio. Some finishes were incomplete: wet bar sink, hood vent were not installed. Upper oven was not secured and moved a lot when we opened it. We thought it might fall out. The washing machine was broken when we arrived (listed as an amenity online). The listing did not mention that we had to take care of an outside dog (we just had to feed him). He had a habit of following our car when we drove away, and he left the property many times. Sebastian asked us to chain him up if he tried to follow us, but did not leave a collar. We're dog people, so we didn't mind taking care of him. But it added unnecessary stress worrying about him getting out and feeling responsible should something happen. It is far from downtown so you need to rent a vehicle to get around. We knew this when booking, but did not know that the last stretch of road between Ara Piki and the house is very rough with large potholes. A normal sedan would probably get stuck, so we had to rent his pickup for CLP 80k/day and even with that it was quite challenging.

Summary: Beautiful views but needs some work to become perfect
